Specialty scales / handle material are intended to be used for knife making, but can be used for many other craft projects. These sets have been sanded down, Danish oil applied and buffed to show grain and colors. This is not intended to be a final surface. Specialty sets are not recommended to be used for a first time knife maker. This set of cheesewood burl seems a little softer, but has been stabilized. When it was stabilized, it didn’t take the resin like other woods do, so it is not as hard as you would expect a stabilized set would be, but it is still firm.
